Hello Lovelies,

today I want to take you on another trip into my mind, my being, my influences.

Those who know me a bit longer might remember my screen name GlamMetal. Those who don´t – it´s a combination of musical genres. It´s not mainly after the – of course super duper epic and ever so awesome genre of GlamMetal itself but more an homage to Placebo´s early days of “GlamPunk”  and Metal. The strongest …or longest influence on the Metal side would be Nightwish.  Before I  start to dwell into the music once more, getting lost in it for hours  – this post was triggered when the ever so awesome Winter Jefferson posted RIOT´s Gacha for this month´s round of The Epiphany,  GLAMPIRE, sulking he couldn´t wear it. Well I can … and yes he kicked me but I bribed him so he wouldn´t kick me more and ruin my look  today *winks*.  But with the combination of that name and well… being a vampire myself I basically screeched MINE and ran to overdraw by monthly budget a tiny bit more to grab at least the black version (complete HA! With the colour change hud for the jewels!

Now… follow me down the line of music again.

If you hit Placebo´s Wikipedia page you´ll see several genres they´re listed in – one of them being GlamPunk. As we all know I tend to pick what I like best. Other bands in that area would be Jack of Jill, Queen Adreena, Rachel Stamp or King Adora. I´ve listed songs of all of them in the Youtube Playlist I created for this post.  My biggest metal influences would be Nightwish, HIM, Cradle of Filth and Children of Bodom, of course amongst others,  further influences being Frankenstein´s Drag Queens from Planet 13 with their side  projects of Murderdolls and Wednesday 13, Alice Cooper, The Hollywood Vampires (check that line up*winks*), the ever so awesome The Darkness, down to Metal´s evil sibling grindcore with Carcass´early works, such as Psychopathologist, “emo” stars My Chemical Romance (yep… I wanted to do baaaaaad things to Gerard… *grins*, to his wife, too though – Mindless Self Indulgence´s very own Lyn-Z!), the aforementioned MSI, gosh I could go on for hours…
Not to forget britpop icons Suede whose singer Brett Anderson triggered Nancy Boy (my fave Placebo track) with the  quote “I see myself as a bisexual man who’s never had a homosexual experience.”

Now yeah I know you´ve met Wednesday 13 in earlier posts and there´s the bridge to my horrorpunk side – it´s all connected I have you know. Deeply… I´m very substyle-fluid (yes if I was active in the lifestyle I´d tend to be more on the sub side, too but that´s kind of a coincidence really…).  Now with the undead-goth side peeking out I can´t leave out the incredible and tragic Eric Draven, protagonist of The Crow, portrayed so wonderfully by dear Varosh at Saturday´s Mr SL Challenge, captured by Petr Denis (what would we do without you taking pics if the Lifes keep us from being there?).

While I´m lingering in the  cinematic corner I mustn´t forget my favourite film: Velvet Goldmine. Surprise: Placebo have a little cameo in it 😉 And I instantly fell in love with Paradox “Dox” Messmer (currently running for Mr SL Egypt 2020 btw^^), when I learned it was his favourite movie, too. Plus he´s just insanely talented…. Kind of the same happened with Boys to the Bone´s very own Jack Valentine when he did an Akasha movie look – DAMN his face reminds me of Brian Molko. And not only he released a Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson Guitarist) dress (which Winter featured) but featured  a HIM quote in his post earlier today.  I love when paths cross several times *chuckles*. Now there´s one more crossing, too: Jack´s Partner Titzuki is the owner of FAKEICON, whose Mary Gems I´m wearing.  Another coincidence! I swear! But they look so good with this outfit!!! (and… with nothing else, too but that´s not for your nosey little eyes 😉 )

Of course I can´t post something like this without hinting you in the direction of Skell Dagger who´s another Glam Icon of SL – especially if he switches to his Syn persona. All the guys I´ve mentioned are on my “I´d die to do a colab with them but I don´t know how to make that miracle happen” List but that goes without saying ;). By the way if anybody knows any GlamRock SL Group, Flickr, FB – poke me!!

I´ve not exclusively tagged every band´s homepage but they´re all on the Soundtrack 😉 This post would just be one huge messy orgy of links *laughs*
